Subscription Terms
These Subscription Terms supplement the Terms of Service and apply when you buy or use a paid Aboot plan. The checkout screen and the Apple App Store or Google Play purchase confirmation show the binding local price, currency, tax treatment, billing period, and any trial or introductory offer.
1. Plans and advertised prices
Aboot has three tiers:
| Plan | Generation allowance | Playlist access | Advertised standard price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | 3 generations for the lifetime of the account | No user-created playlists | €0 |
| Go | 3 generations per UTC calendar month | Public playlists | €3.99 monthly or €47.90 annually |
| Plus | 15 generations per UTC calendar month | Public, private, and invite-only playlists | €9.99 monthly or €119.99 annually |
The store price shown before confirmation controls. It may differ because of currency, taxes, local pricing, or an approved promotion. An annual subscription is charged as one upfront annual payment; a monthly subscription is charged once each month.
Free users can access the full Discovery summary catalogue within their listening allowance and can follow and stream podcasts. Free generations do not include whole-book narration for a declared book or thesis. A Free user may still listen to an existing Discovery book summary within their play allowance and use the pre-generation lookup.
Summary listening allowances
- Free: 50 summary plays for the lifetime of the account.
- Go: 200 summary plays per UTC calendar month.
- Plus: unlimited summary plays.
A listen uses one play after you have listened to more than half of the summary. Pausing and resuming the same listen does not use an additional play. A new listen to the same summary can use another play when it reaches that threshold. Skipping ahead by itself does not count as time listened. Podcast episodes do not use this allowance.
Go’s play allowance resets by UTC calendar month, including with annual billing. Unused monthly plays do not roll over. Offline listening uses the device’s last known allowance and is reconciled when it reconnects, so balances across devices may temporarily differ.
2. Generation resets and unused allowance
Go and Plus generation allowances reset when the UTC calendar month changes. They are not tied to the store renewal date. Annual billing does not provide a year’s generations at once and does not change the monthly reset schedule. Unused generations do not roll over, have no cash value, and cannot be transferred.
The Free allowance is a lifetime account total and does not reset. A failed eligible job is returned to the allowance under the service’s usage rules. Abuse, duplicate accounts, or circumvention of technical limits may result in withheld refunds or account action where permitted by law.
3. Automatic renewal and charges
Go and Plus are auto-renewing subscriptions. Unless you cancel at least as early as the store requires before the end of the current term, your store account will be charged for the next monthly or annual term at the price disclosed by the store. Apple or Google, not Luminosity, processes the payment and may send renewal notices.
No free trial or introductory offer applies unless the store checkout expressly states its duration, conversion date, renewal price, and cancellation method.
4. Managing and cancelling
Manage or cancel the subscription through the store account used for purchase:
- Apple: Settings, your name, Subscriptions, Aboot; or Apple’s subscription-management page.
- Google Play: Play Store, profile, Payments and subscriptions, Subscriptions, Aboot; or Google Play’s subscription-management page.
Cancellation normally stops the next renewal. Paid access generally continues until the end of the already-paid term unless the store or local law provides otherwise. Deleting the app or deleting your Aboot account does not by itself cancel store billing. Cancel first if you do not want the subscription to renew.
5. Plan changes, lapse, and restore
The store determines when an upgrade, downgrade, or billing-frequency change takes effect and whether it applies a prorated charge or credit. Aboot grants access after the purchase has been verified.
A move between Go and Plus during the same UTC calendar month preserves the number of generations already used. When paid access first activates after Free, or expires back to Free, Aboot applies the usage reset rules described in the app. If a subscription lapses, existing private content remains accessible, but paid generation and playlist features may be limited until a qualifying entitlement is restored.
Use Restore Purchases in the app after reinstalling or changing devices. The same Aboot account and store account should be used. Contact help@aboot.app if a completed purchase does not appear after restoration.
6. Refunds and consumer rights
Refund requests for store purchases are handled by Apple or Google under the store’s policy and applicable law. Luminosity cannot directly issue a store refund. Nothing in these Terms limits any mandatory right to a refund, price reduction, cancellation, or other consumer remedy.
If the law where you live provides a cooling-off or withdrawal right, exercise it through the store that processed the purchase or contact help@aboot.app if the store directs you to us. For digital content or services supplied immediately, a withdrawal right may be lost or reduced only where the legally required express request, consent, and acknowledgement have been obtained. The store receipt and checkout disclosures form part of the purchase record.
Apple refund requests can be started through Apple’s Report a Problem service. Google Play cancellation is available through its subscription centre, with refund options shown in Google Play’s order history or support flow. Local law may provide a different or additional remedy.
7. Price or plan changes
We may change future prices, allowances, or features. The store will request consent to a price increase where required. We will give reasonable notice of a material reduction that affects an existing paid term. A change will not reduce mandatory consumer rights.
8. Contact
Questions about a Aboot entitlement can be sent to help@aboot.app. Questions about the charge, payment method, cancellation status, or refund should also be directed to the store that processed the purchase.
