Community and Content Standards
These standards apply to documents, playlist titles and descriptions, public summaries, author narrations, invitations, reports, profile information, and any other material or conduct submitted through Aboot. They form part of the Terms of Service.
You must accept the current Terms of Service and these standards before uploading or publishing user-generated content.
1. Rights and lawful use
Only upload, publish, or submit material you are allowed to use. Respect copyright, database rights, trademarks, privacy, confidentiality, contractual restrictions, and open-access licence terms. Do not misrepresent authorship, rights, affiliation, identity, or consent.
Open access is not the same as no rights. Follow attribution, non-commercial, share-alike, no-derivatives, and other conditions that apply to the source.
2. Prohibited content and conduct
Do not use Aboot for content or conduct that:
- sexually exploits or endangers a child, promotes grooming, or depicts child sexual abuse;
- threatens, harasses, stalks, bullies, defames, or incites violence against a person or protected group;
- promotes terrorism, violent extremism, human trafficking, self-harm, or instructions for serious wrongdoing;
- contains unlawful hate speech or dehumanizing abuse;
- exposes personal, confidential, medical, financial, authentication, or location data without a lawful basis and appropriate permission;
- infringes intellectual-property or personality rights;
- contains malware, corrupted payloads, credential theft, hidden instructions, or attempts to interfere with AI, security, or moderation systems;
- impersonates an author, researcher, institution, publisher, rights holder, or Aboot;
- fabricates research, citations, evidence, peer review, or provenance, or is designed to facilitate academic dishonesty;
- is fraudulent, deceptive, spammy, commercially manipulative, or intended to game Discovery, search, generation limits, or engagement counts;
- violates export controls, sanctions, court orders, or other applicable law; or
- otherwise creates a serious risk to users, third parties, or the service.
3. Public summaries and playlists
Public content must be suitable for a general research audience. Playlist titles and descriptions should accurately describe the collection and must not contain abusive text, personal contact details, misleading endorsements, undisclosed advertising, or keyword spam.
A shared playlist may include only content its members are permitted to access. Aboot may make a playlist private if a contained summary becomes private or otherwise ineligible for sharing.
4. Author narrations
An author narration submission must be your own recording of a summary of work you authored and have the right to submit. The paper must satisfy the open-access and rights requirements shown in the app. Do not clone or imitate another person’s voice without valid permission. Do not include music, excerpts, or other third-party material unless you have the necessary rights.
All author narrations require review. We may ask for evidence, reject the submission, or remove an approved narration if rights, identity, safety, or quality concerns arise.
5. AI-generated content
AI-generated content must follow the same rules as human-submitted content. Do not attempt to prompt the service to create prohibited content or to override safety, provenance, quality, or rights checks. Generated output is not proof that the use is lawful or accurate.
6. Moderation
We may use automated tools and human review to enforce these standards. We may restrict content or features, preserve evidence, or suspend or terminate an account. We consider the context, likely harm, applicable law, and prior violations. Urgent cases may be acted on without prior notice.
Where required, a decision notice will identify what was restricted, the contractual or legal ground, the main facts and circumstances, the duration and territorial scope, whether automated means materially informed the decision, and how to request review or use other available redress.
7. Reporting and review
Use the in-app report action where available. For illegal content, copyright, privacy, impersonation, or a report that cannot be made in the app, follow the Copyright and Illegal Content Policy or email help@aboot.app.
Include enough information to identify the item and explain the concern. Knowingly false or abusive reports may themselves violate these standards.
If your content or account is restricted, you may ask for review at help@aboot.app. State the relevant account email or content identifier, the decision you contest, and why you believe it should change. A person will review eligible appeals.
Reporting asks Aboot to review content or conduct. Personal visibility controls, where available, affect only what you see.
8. No retaliation
Do not retaliate against a person for making a good-faith safety, rights, privacy, or legal report. Retaliation may result in account action.
